Come join the Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts and other paddlers from around our region at the Kingsport Aquatic Center‏ for tips & tricks about basic kayaking skills and learning how to roll.

During the summer, we will be in the outdoor pool, but in cases of rain, the center will partition off part of the indoor pool for us.  During the winter, the center will have bulkheads installed in the indoor pool and we’ll have a section for our use.  That indoor pool is huge!

Logistics for bringing in your boat and equipment are pretty simple.  There is a gate to the outdoor pool and a door to the indoor pool.  The gate/door will be opened during the initial rush of people right around 7:00 P.M. for 10 minutes or so.  After the gate/door is closed, people can drop their boat & equipment off at the door, walk to the front desk to pay the $3.00 and someone will go open the gate/door for them.

We will also have occasional access to the lazy river to use for kayak practice in current!  Stay tuned for announcements for these special events…

Please note: The Jackson Action Wagon will occasionally provide FREE kayak demos of the current fleet of boats at these pool sessions, but neither the pool nor the J.A.W. provides paddling equipment (Paddle, Spray Skirt, etc…) for these sessions.  If you are just starting out in the sport and do not yet have your own equipment, please get in touch with the Event Sessions Contact to see if you can get some loaner gear for a session.
