Love the Spokane River? Join about 800-1,000 folks from across our region in the 10th annual Spokane River Clean-Up, set for Saturday, September 29.
Each year, the trash tallies grow as more and more folks show up and cover more and more areas along the Spokane River shoreline. A growing list of groups and organizations, like high schools, churches, whitewater groups, service clubs and others sign up too, each taking advantage of the Clean-Up as a way to give back to the community and beautify the river.
Whether you’re a first-timer or an experienced picker-upper, you’re invited to join the fun. Like last year, this year’s event is planned to cover locations in the Spokane Valley and the University District along with our base, the Downtown River Gorge area around Peaceful Valley, High Bridge and People’s Park.
What’s new this year? We’ve added new ways for groups to participate. Recruit friends, classmates, co-workers – or your favorite group or club, and you can register as a group or as an independent team. If you register as a group, we’ll make sure you all work in the same clean-up area (along with other volunteers). But if you’ve got at least 10 in your group and one attends our team training on the evening of September 25, you can register as an independent team and receive a dedicated work area. Plus, if your team represents a business or other organization, you can sign up to compete in our 1st annual Corporate Cup.
