About the Smokies

action-1-little

The Smokies Region is centralized in the greater Knoxville Valley and moves into the mountains and Plateau in every direction. One of the greatest things about being in the Smokies region is that we are 2 hours or less to some of the best whitewater in the southeast for any skill level. To the north and west we have the Plateau and to the south and east we have the Smokey Mountains.

Beginner runs exist all over the region; sections of Clear Creek, lower Little River and the Lower Pigeon will keep you coming back for more. Our region is littered with intermediate Class III runs; from from river running the Upper Pigeon and the Ocoee to creeking on the Little and Greenbriar, we cover it all. Expert level paddlers can still maintain their need for water with play on the Upper Ocoee and Cheoah and an endless number of Class IV-V+ creeks in the smokies like Big Creek or the West Prong.

The Smokies Region is the place to be! Come, visit our region and you may never go back home again!
