About Richmond

The Richmond area has a lot to offer residents.  The James River flows downtown.  There are rapids that range from Class I to Class IV, all depending on the water levels.  This is a great place for those that are just getting started into the whitewater experience.  The James also provides a great playground for even the experienced boaters.  I was once told, “your home river is what you make of it.  You practice where you are comfortable you will perform on rivers that you don’t run every day.”  This motto stuck with me even to this day.

Ontop of the River we are close to the mountains which provides us various runs within a two hour drive.  We also have various hikes and are close to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

If whitewater is not your cup of tea, Richmond provides mountain biking trails along the James River Park System.  This trails are loved by many residents.

The city also host various outside events throughout the year.  This includes the Dominion River Rock Event.  This event includes a 10K race, boater cross, the muddy buddy, and the infamous kayak jump.

Probably the best thing about the Richmond area is that this is all in our backyard.  We are able to paddle, bike, run, or whatever you like after work, before work, and some even at lunch time.  Not to mention that we get warmer sooner and stay warmer longer than many other regions.
