Nashville World Kayak Local Spotlight — Jason Crummer

Jason Crummer

Kingston springs, TN

At age 26, Jason Crummer plays the dominator, having taken first place in our first annual Clear Creek Race. With our second race of the series rapidly approaching, he is training hard for what he hopes will be his second victory. Jason grew up paddling, spending most of his time in canoes. His sister got a job working as a raft guide on the Ocoee, so he began spending alot of his time there with her. Jason fell in love with whitewater there. He got into kayaking within the last three years and has really improved his game.

Jason currently paddles a Dagger Nomad 8.5 and loves it. For a paddle he sport the Warner Player. When I asked him how he liked it, he said “Warner for Life!” Jason Crummer’s favorite rivers are all great ones and include the Green for the challenge, the Tallulah because of its big water feel, the Ocoee because its home, and all our plateau creeks because they’re the best. His favorite rapid of all time is Oceana, because its intimidating, and Gauntlet, because of all the choices on lines, both of which are on the Tallulah River in north Georgia.

Jason wants to keep pushing himself further in this sport and get into some expedition style boating doing multi-day overnighters on the big water out west He loves creek racing, and wants to excel in this sport as well. “The best thing about creek racing is finding the best lines, to make it through the rapid faster.” Jason stated. When I asked him what he thought about World Kayak here in mid/TN, he said,”I think World Kayak is awesome! I’ve been looking for something like this to come around, and it’s finally here!”

Congratulations to Jason Crummer for his fist place victory in the Plateau Creek Race series Event 1 – the Clear Creek Sprint!
