World Kayak’s Hometown Throwdown comes to the Nantahala. Come try out the newly constructed 2013 Wave. All ability levels are welcome!
Get Out and Play!
For those who want to simply have fun and encourage each other to step up their playboating skills, the format of a Hometown Throwdown is quite straightforward: Two rides and you go home. Points are awarded for EVERYTHING! Front surfs, loops, and space chickens all count and everyone has a shot. This is NOT a pro event, but we do invite pros to come out and coach and score…don’t be surprised to see one or two hanging around.
|Registration:||11:00-11:30am by the river|
|Raffle:||Immediately after Competition|
We do keep score, and results are posted at the end of the competition, but prizes are awarded by raffle, not by place. Usually, every competitor walks away with a prize from our generous sponsors.
New in 2012, World Kayak has set up a Points Series that will rank paddlers on a local, regional, and national level. This unique system uses both participation and placement in events to determine rankings at the end of the season. To participate in the Points Series, you need to join World Kayak and pay an annual fee of $10. You do not need to join the Points Series to compete in Hometown Throwdown events.
The final 11th event for the 2012 HTTD Southeast Championship will be the WORLDKAYAK Hometown Throwdown Championship event on Saturday, September 29, 2012. This event will count for double points in the HTTD Southeast Championship Series Points System!
