Kay-Uwe Head shot

I started kayaking in 1998 with a two day introductory course and within the first few hours I was hooked. I have always done outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, bicycling, some whitewater rafting, and later on climbing. Once I moved to the B.C’s Fraser Valley area I thought it was a good time to try kayaking. Since my first course I have been out every chance I could, usually two times a week, more if I got the chance. After a few years I started helping out with the kayak school as a safety boater and gradually started to help with instruction. I really enjoy seeing people reach their goals and the satisfaction they get from the sport so it is a nice addition to my passion for kayaking. I am currently a learning facilitator for instructors under Canoe Kayak Canada and also have my whitewater and rescue instructor certificates with the American Canoe Association. I still love the other outdoor activities but find I usually choose to go for a paddle before the others nowadays.

Paddle safe and have fun
