Well, unfortunately the paddlers of Durango all had something better to be doing than to participate in the 2nd ever hometown throw down event organized by Surf the San Juans and sponsored by World Kayak : ( Oh, well, we kind of expected it with the lower flows (a record year low since 2002) 194 cfs today 7/11/13 on the Animas River through Durango. Even with the low flows we got out for some paddle boarding and enjoyed our river. We also got a lot of trash pulled out of the water and off of the banks as shown in the photo… the question now is; what the heck is August gonna look like? We could get lucky with the more frequent rains and see higher flows, or we could organize a full on trash cleanup throw down throughout town. . . We’ll see as it gets closer, but low flows and the end of the season means clean up time any way. So start thinking about coming to win some prizes for the most trash pulled out of our beautiful river, the Animas River, in Durango CO. HTTD event # 3 August 7th 2013. Hope to see some of you there.
