Our First Hometown Throwdown had to be moved due to a schedule conflict so the new date is Saturday March 24. Registration starts at 12:30 event starts around 1-130 depending on attendance.
Freestyle Rodeo for all skill levels. Competition will either be at the playpark or at the beach hole which is about a half mile from the Stonycreek Canyon put-in in Hollsopple.
Some of the more advanced boaters have also agreed to stick around and provide some pointers on the new moves and perfecting your existing playboating routine.
BoaterX : This is a playboater X race for both new and old school playboats. Paddlers will compete in heats of 4-5 boaters with the top 2 advancing and the others will have a chance to get in the championship heat with a losers bracket race to qualify. Boaters will have to catch specific eddies and touch a designated rock before heading to the next obstacle. Race will either be at the playpark if we hold the freestyle event there or at another location on the beginning of the canyon section. We’ve held it for the rendezvous at Showers Rapid which makes for an exciting event.
All boaters have chance to win some great prizes as provided by our World Kayak sponsors, and the top 3 finishers are treated to hand made Hei Matau necklaces from Soulful Bones, and owner/artist Greg Lipps.
Hope to see you there and please pre-register here on the world kayak site there is no fee. If you want to be ranked nationally against the other world kayak throwdowns there is a $10 fee which helps with site maintenance. World Kayak is a complete non-profit geared towards promoting paddlesports through fun and friendly competition.
