NRC Glacier Breaker 2013

What a wonderful weekend at the NRC Glacier Breaker. As always, the Nantahala River was splendid and beautiful.  The Glacier Breaker was a wonderful event. From what I gathered, more people turned out for the event than expected. This, of course, is information I was getting from some of the staff at the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC).

I applaud all the racers at this year’s event. They ALL performed admirably and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship which is a credit to the boating world.

Everyone got into the river spirit–including Mother Nature’s Avian Boaters! Aren’t they cute?

Unlike like my web-footed paddlers, I did not get to paddle the river as I had wanted, but with a shoulder impingement and an upcoming raft guide school; I did not want to take the chance of further injury. I flirted a little in the drink near a surfing wave while my boater buddy play boated.

                                                                                                                                    My badass buddy,
Jennifer Stockwell, playboating!
Stay Fly!

However, my trip to the Nantahala is NEVER a lost cause! I have so many great friends at the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC), it’s worth the 3 hour drive up the mountain. Plus, I always make new and super awesome acquaintances. The outfitter store always beckons me and I end up spending a paycheck on gear or other cool swag.

Overall, the event went smooth. I had a blast. Can’t wait for the next event!
