Located northeast of Toronto and southwest of Ottawa we are in the heart of cottage country. Located in the Southern Canadian Shield we have a wide variety of rivers in the area. Almost all rivers are pool drop with a treasure-trove of lakes in between and connecting the rivers. Most rivers in the area are class 2 to 4 difficulty but a few can offer greater challenges. Most runs are a result of spring melt, but we do have some all season rivers such as the Madawaska River, Gull River and the Ottawa River to the north all within a manageable driving distance. Located close enough to the cities this region offers a great paddling resource to a large paddling population.
It hasn’t been the greatest spring, paddling-wise, in Central Ontario this year but the Kawartha Whitewater Paddlers have been trying to make the best of a bad situation.
