About Central Alabama

Welcome to the Central Alabama region.  This area has several great rivers.  In Wetumpka, the Coosa is a great river for all levels of kayakers.   Moccasin Gap is a class 3 play spot and is home for the annual Coosa Whitewater Festival.  In Tallassee, the Tallapoosa River, offers one of the best play spots called sticky hole, but would not be for the novice paddler.  The Chattahoochee River separates Phenix City AL, and Columbus, Ga.   This is a great park-n-play and is the future home for the new whitewater park.  It’s been in the planning stages for many years and finally is in the construction phase and will be a great benefit to the paddling community.

Central Alabama has some of the best play spots available not to mention the many great creek runs when the rain is up.  While everyone is relying on rain to go paddle, keep your gear handy because the Chattahoochee offers two to three hours of great park-n-play almost daily even in a drought.

If you want to travel a few hours North, the Locust Fork and the Mulberry Fork of the Warrior River offers plenty of good paddling and play spots, not to mention the incredible creeking in northern Alabama.
