Affiliate Sponsor – Scott Subaru

The amazing folks at Scott Subaru in Red Deer were the first to jump on board to support the World Kayak initiatives here in Alberta. Manager Jason Goacher, and Sales Manager Ernesto Flores have been enthusiastic about the project and have lead the charge in providing critical support specifically for the World Kayak Brierley’s Hometown Throwdown in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. This Central Alberta regional event is a great venue for Scott Subaru to display and demo out their amazing line of sport based SUV’s and rally cars.

Scott Subaru Sponsorship 2012

The gang at Scott Subaru and World Kayak Alberta Ambassador Eric Albert together innovated a great affiliate sponsorship with another WK Affiliate sponsor Undercurrents Calgary. In 2012, Scott Subaru purchased a 2011 Jackson Kayak Zen 65 direct from the Jackson Kayak factory and had it delivered to Undercurrents Calgary. Tony Palmer from Undercurrents graciously brokered the boats, and we had the boat available for Scott Subaru to display on top of a 2012 Subaru Outback, up until the big draw at the Brierley’s Hometown Throwdown.

At the event, Ernesto Flores set up the Outback for a great weekend of camping and good times. Ernesto had a prime location right near the registration tent where he was able to display the Subaru banners, flags, and a very cool SUV tent. Ernesto Flores wasn’t just there to push the Subaru product, he was an

integral part of the event and helped out and supported the activities and basic needs of the patrons participating at the event. His easy going personality was very welcomed, and we really appreciate his presence at the event, thanks Ernesto!

Scott Subaru, ended up donating the SUV tent as a silent auction item which was purchased by Darcy Wilkins of Chilliwack BC. but that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Of course, the biggest prize was the Jackson Kayak Zen 65! Additionally with the kayak draw, Scott Subaru threw in a great set of Thule Kayak Stackers, which was an additional item given to the person who won the kayak. The draw consisted of ticket purchases of 1 ticket for $5 or 5 tickets for $20. This draw raised a great amount of money for the Rocky Canoe Club’s initiatives in developing kayaking in the region. The winner of the Zen along with the Thule Kayak Stackers was Reed Dixon from Lacombe Alberta. Reed was extremely excited about the win, and has since become quite the boater in his new Zen! Congratulations Reed, and thanks Scott Subaru!

Scott Subaru Sponsorship 2013

Once again, Jason, Ernesto, and the gang at Scott Subaru have stepped up the plate for the 2013 World Kayak Brierley’s Hometown Throwdown to be held on July 14th / 2013 in Rocky Mountain House. In affiliation with Tony Palmer at Undercurrents, and the great gang at Jackson Kayak, Scott Subaru is donating a 2013 Jackson Kayak Karma Medium as a kayak draw for the Brierley’s event. The Karma is one of 2013′s leading boat designs, and is sure to be a very appealing boat to purchase tickets for!

Once again this year tickets will be one ticket for $5 or five tickets for $20. All proceeds to the draw will be distributed to freestyle kayaking initiatives in Alberta. Registered patrons to the Brierley’s event will  be given one free ticket upon registering, and can either purchase more tickets at the event itself, or during the online registration process. IMPORTANT…you must be present at the time of the draw, at the Brierley’s event to claim your kayak…if you don’t show, you don’t win! Simple as that.

Once again thanks to Scott Subaru for their previous support and supporting the 2013 World Kayak Brierley’s Hometown Throwdown event scheduled for July 14th / 2013 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta! Hope to see you all there!
